2 Marion County departments get grants for fire trucks
Marion Star — Two volunteer fire departments have been awarded Federal Emergency Management Agency grants to purchase new fire trucks.
Pleasant Township Fire Department received calls on Thursday from both Sen. Sherrod Brown and Sen. Rob Portman that the $280,000 grant they applied for in 2010 was awarded in full, with the department required to contribute 5 percent of that total toward the purchase.
The funds will be used to replace a 1988 tanker truck, said Assistant Chief Clint Canterbury.
