Adena gets $250,000 grant to boost cardiac care effort

Chillicothe Gazette – Adena Health System has received a $250,000 grant toward a project to create a regional system for improving cardiac arrest response times.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown announced Monday that the grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission is intended to help develop a regional electrocardiogram (EKG) transmission system to improve emergency response times for patients in cardiac arrest.

“Residents and patients in Ross, Pike and Vinton counties rely on a modern health care system unhindered by geographical distance through the Adena Health System,” Brown said. “These federal resources will ensure that southern Ohioans experiencing cardiac arrest will receive efficient, high-tech care.”

The grant is expected to provide Lead EKG transmission equipment to EMT squads and hospitals in the three counties.
