American Greetings announces plans to remain in Northeast Ohio
WCPO – BROOKLYN, Ohio – American Greetings Corp. announced plans to remain in Northeast Ohio during a press conference with Ohio Gov. John Kasich Monday morning.
The company will stay in Ohio, CEO Zev Weiss announced, but he did not say if the headquarters will remain at the current Brooklyn location. Other potential destinations include moving to another Cleveland-area suburb, like Beachwood, Independence, Brecksville or Westlake.
"This is great news for both American Greetings, northeast Ohio and the state, and marks another step forward in Ohio's effort to create a jobs-friendly environment and overhaul how we work with companies to help them thrive and grow," Kasich said, in a release.
To entice American Greetings to stay in state, Ohio lawmakers pushed through legislation last week that offers tax breaks for the company.
