AMR’s Boeing, Airbus orders to boost Ohio economy
Cincinnati Business Courier – American Airlines’ massive passenger jet orders with Boeing Co. and Airbus are expected to lift Ohio’s economy, which is home to a large number of manufacturers that supply parts to both aerospace giants.
In what’s being billed as the largest aircraft order in history, parent AMR Corp. on Wednesday announced deals with the two aircraft companies to replace its fleet. Under the new agreements, which will reportedly be worth a total of more than $35 billion, American plans to acquire 460 narrowbody, single-aisle aircraft from the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 families beginning in 2013 through 2022.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, said the deal presents an opportunity to grow Ohio’s aerospace industry.
