Ironton Tribune – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that Lawrence County student Jacob Kilver, of South Point, has received the 2011 Aeronautics Scholarship. Awarded by NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate, Kilver is one of two Ohio students to the prestigious award that aids students enrolled in fields related to aeronautics and aviation studies.

“Young Ohioans like Jacob strengthen Ohio’s contributions to 21st century innovations in aeronautics and aviation,” Brown said. “Science, technology, engineering and mathematics-based industries will continue to seek out talented Ohioans who are soaring to new heights and attracting new jobs to our state.”

Kilver is an undergraduate at The Ohio State University. He will receive $15,000 per year to cover tuition costs for two years and can also receive a $10,000 stipend during a summer internship with NASA.
