Brown pushes for Blue Alert to catch suspected cop killers

WEWS – Dylan Demas stood in front of a board honoring all the Cleveland police officers killed in the line of duty on Monday. He was so close to having his own badge number up there.

“The guy just wasn’t willing to go with us, so he did everything he could to get away,” said Officer Demas.

A suspect ran over Demas when he and his partner pulled a man over for loud music in April 2009.

“I was dragged underneath the car until my partner fired two shots. It caused him to swerve and hit a telephone police,” Demas said.

The suspect made it to a bus station and all the way to New York before he was caught.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, said this story is just one example of why Ohio and the rest of the country should have a “blue alert system.”
