Brown to introduce bus safety bill
Columbus Dispatch – Four years to the day after the fatal bus crash involving the Bluffton University baseball team, Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas tomorrow will re-introduce a bill aimed at improving bus safety.
"We need to prevent any future bus trips from turning into tragedies,'' said Brown, referring to the bus crash that killed seven people.
The bill would require safety belts for bus passengers, training for drivers, and stronger roofs that could survive rollovers. Brown and Hutchison have introduced the bill twice in the past four years, but Congress has yet to pass the measure.
