City of Trenton receives national community service award
Middletown Journal – The City of Trenton has been recognized by a U.S. Senator for making a difference in the community.
Sen. Sherrod Brown, (D-OH), congratulated the community today, for being the 2011 recipient of the “Make a Difference Day City Award” from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), which engages Americans in public service.
The federal agency chose to honor the city for its October 2010 “Make a Difference Day” project where more than 300 volunteers cleaned parks, picked up litter and helped seniors with lawn maintenance.
“The City of Trenton exemplifies Ohioans’ commitment to their communities. The 300 volunteers in the city of Trenton deserve this national honor. Ohioans have always answered the call where there is a need in their community and programs like CNCS unite hundreds to volunteer their time,” Brown said.
