Cleveland steel company, ArcelorMittal, gets attention from Washington D.C.

WEWS – A member of President Obama’s cabinet was in town Friday to discuss export policies.

U.S. trade representative Ron Kirk met with Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) at ArcelorMittal Steel on Friday. Business leaders discussed how local employers and workers can succeed by selling their goods outside of the U.S.

Ron Kirk stressed, “We want them shipping steel to build the Panama canal. help Africa, Asia, India, and Latin America grow their economies. That’s going to be the future of America.”

Senator Brown pointed out that it’s important that everyone is playing on a level playing field. The International Trade Commision has played an important role in keeping underpriced imports from damaging businesses the U.S.
