Columbus Dispatch: Brown urges trade action against China
Saying that “this is about enforcing trade laws,” Sen. Sherrod Brown today urged the U.S. International Trade Commission to impose import duties against Chinese aluminum manufacturers.
Testifying before the ITC, Brown, D-Ohio, accused the Chinese government of providing “subsidies to Chinese producers and exporters,” which allows them to engage in “harmful dumping practices” that hurt U.S. manufacturers.
“The competitive disadvantage for U.S. producers is clear,” Brown said. He cited 16 Ohio companies that could be impacted by an ITC ruling, including Central Aluminum of Columbus.
