Commentary: Obama advised to show interest in manufacturing
Dayton Daily News – WASHINGTON — To say Sen. Sherrod Brown was unhappy with President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address last week would be a bit of a stretch.
“Disappointed’’ with parts of the speech was about as far as Brown, D-Ohio, would go.
“I don’t think there is a presidential State of the Union that almost every member of Congress doesn’t have some minor differences,’’ Brown said. “I had several of those, but overall I liked the speech.’’
But then Brown went on to say he was “concerned that (Obama) did not talk about manufacturing,’’ adding that “this country’s policy makers have ignored manufacturing for a generation now.’’
