CVNP receives funds to develop exhibit, create jobs

West Side Leader – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) announced May 2 that more than $1 million was awarded to the National Park Service to develop a new installation at the Canal Visitor Center in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP).

The U.S. Department of Transportation funds were distributed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to improve the visitor center located on the Ohio & Erie Canalway Byway. Based on FHWA estimates, about 28 new jobs will be created through this investment.

“This presents a new opportunity for local families and tourists — who seek adventure along the byway and in Northeast Ohio’s serene Cuyahoga Valley National Park — to learn more about the Ohio & Erie Canal,” Brown stated in a press release. “Whether you’re traveling in Cleveland, Akron or New Philadelphia, this new project will serve many Ohioans and tourists in the years to come.”
