Denison campus celebrates D-III men’s swimming champs
Newark Advocate – Almost 300 Denison University students, staff and faculty on Friday celebrated the NCAA Division III national title won March 26 by the university’s men’s swimming and diving team.
“Go Big Red” were the bywords at the rally around the flagpole in front of Slayter Hall, where swim team members were introduced and made comments, and remarks were delivered by Coach Gregg Parini, President Dale Knobel and Provost Brad Bateman.
“This is something no college gets to do very often,” Knobel said. “There’s just not that many national champions!”
The Big Red swimmers snapped neighboring league rival Kenyon College’s 31-year men’s national title streak, dramatically rallying and holding off the Lords by a single point.
