Fire department to get federal grant for engine
Lancaster Eagle Gazette — After a month of news about constricting budgets, tough contract negotiations, layoffs and emergency repairs to a fire engine, the Lancaster Fire Department received some good news this week.
The department will receive a federal grant to help pay for a new fire engine.
"It really is great news," Assistant Fire Chief Dave Ward said. "Sen. Sherrod Brown's office called to give us advance word that we were able to get a $300,000 grant for the purchase of a new fire engine."
