Fire dept. lands $301K federal grant
Salem News – SALEM – The Salem Fire Department was awarded a $301,648 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced Wednesday.
The money is part of $636,294 awarded to two Mahoning Valley fire departments in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration and is U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The Boardman Township Fire Department will receive $334,646, Brown said.
"First responders put their lives on the line every day across Ohio," said Brown.
"These funds will help ensure that fire departments in Boardman and Salem have the adequate staffing they need to protect their communities."
