Government Shutdown ‘has cost to citizens’

Morning Journal – It appeared the looming federal government shutdown will delay income tax refunds and cause the closure of northern Ohio’s NASA facilities.

Government and business workers spent yesterday preparing for the federal government to shut down at midnight Saturday, the federal budget stops paying for some non-essential services. Republicans and Democrats, along with President Obama, yesterday continued their wrangling over how to pay for federal government services for the rest of the year.

Sen. Sherrod Brown, a Democrat from Avon, hosted a news conference by phone yesterday to discuss a new bill he introduced, but reporters chimed in with questions about the work stoppage.

Brown predicted a furlough for much of his own staff. The economy also could take a hit if the U.S. Small Business Administration shuts down its loans to help companies.
