Greyhound Lines joins Sen. Sherrod Brown’s plea for safer long-haul buses
Plain Dealer — Greyhound Lines, the nation’s leading interstate bus company, on Thursday endorsed a proposal by Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio to toughen safety standards that could prevent multiple deaths when charter buses crash.
“I am pleased to announce Greyhound’s support for the Motorcoach Enhanced Safety Act, which will lead to substantial safety improvements in the manufacture and operation of motorcoaches,” Greyhound Lines CEO David Leach said at a Capitol Hill news conference. “Greyhound has already built many of these improvements, such as seat belts and safer seats, into its new buses, and we believe that such improvements should be adopted industry-wide.”
