Inmates Commit Tax Fraud From Behind Bars
Indiana’s NewsCenter – Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown says inmates have fleeced U.S. taxpayers for $123 million since 2004 by filing fraudulent tax returns from behind bars.
Brown, along with other senators, have sent a letter to the IRS and the Federal Bureau of Prisons, demanding that they immediately crack down on such filings and begin sharing information, as required by Congress in 2008.
