Lorain gets grant to eliminate lead-based paint
The Morning Journal – LORAIN — A federal grant of $2.1 million will help Lorain officials reduce the hazard of lead-based paint in homes.
City officials held a press conference today to explain the grant, which also will pay for worker training and to increase public awareness about childhood lead poisoning.
“Keeping Ohio children safe is a paramount concern for parents, but there are hidden dangers — like lead exposure — that are more difficult and costly to detect,” said U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, who advocated for the grant. “Consumer protection and community protection are inextricably linked. These HUD funds are crucial to keeping communities in Lorain safe for the next generation of Ohioans.”
