Needy Ohio children can get good food during summer break
Athens News – A June 26 Athens NEWS series on food security or basic access to healthy, affordable meals caught my attention. No child should have to go to bed hungry.
So, when local farmers donate food for the federally funded summer food program at Federal Hocking Middle School, they help create a better America.
For more than 40 percent of Ohio children some of whom are raised by a grandparent or single mother who works two jobs summer isn’t just time off from school. It can also mean a lack of access to reliable, healthy meals.
