Ohioans who work hard and play by the rules should be able to get ahead

A recent Times Gazette article highlighted a harbor for workers in search of good-paying, middle class jobs (“Employment center helping thousands,” June 1).
Despite high unemployment, employers struggle to find workers with the right skills to fill openings. And the problem is made worse when those employers have trouble planning for future growth because of the uncertainty about federal investments in workforce training. Some Washington politicians want to slash more than $6 billion a year from workforce investment programs, like the Highland County One Stop Employment Center in Hillsboro, that support people who are actively looking for work.
