Ohio’s representatives take a seat for unity

Chillicothe Gazette – Whether it was merely being done for publicity or actually signals a shift in future conduct, Ohio's members of Congress offered a show of unity Tuesday while viewing President Barack Obama's State of the Union address.

Typically divided aisles were meshed together as Democrats and Republicans shifted the seating chart in an effort to showcase solidarity.

"Rob Portman and I will be sitting next to each other, because it's not the "D" or the "R" next to our names that's important, but the 'O-H'," said Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, about his Republican Ohio Senate counterpart.

Brown said he hoped to hear about how Obama plans to focus on job creation and innovation in the next year and on the importance of education. Brown said he and the president have similar goals.
