Pike County farmer to serve on soybean board
Chillicothe Gazette – Pike County farmer Daniel Corcoran has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the United Soybean Board by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, said the appointment came from the USDA secretary and Corcoran joins 19 newly appointed members from across the country on the board. The board, authorized by the Soybean Promotion, Research, and Consumer Information Act, has 69 members. Appointees were selected based on nominations by the qualified state soybean boards.
“Ohio’s leadership in agriculture positions Mr. Corcoran as a leading national voice for the soybean industry,” Brown said. “As we continue consideration of the 2012 Farm Bill, I look forward to working with Mr. Corcoran to expand markets for Ohio’s soybean farmers and help lead our state’s economic recovery.”
