Plane push gets more help from Ohio adjutant general
Mansfield News Journal – Ohio’s adjutant general has added her voice to the movement for placing more C-27J aircraft at the 179th Airlift Wing.
Maj. Gen. Deborah A. Ashenhurst, the adjutant general of Ohio, Thursday lauded U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown for his letter this week imploring the U.S. Air Force to bring more planes to Mansfield.
“The men and women of the Ohio National Guard are grateful to Senator Brown and the entire Ohio congressional delegation for continuing to work very hard to support us,” Ashenhurst said. “The C-27J basing plan currently in place is, no doubt, challenging.
“Going from a four-aircraft wing to a wing of five or six aircraft would certainly make it easier for the 179th Airlift Wing at Mansfield to meet evolving mission requirements. Regardless, the history of the 179th, and of the Ohio National Guard as a whole, is that we get the job done, and we will continue to do so.”
