Ross County Airport expansion project gets new grant
Chillicothe Gazette – The expansion project at the Ross County Airport got another piece of good news Friday.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown announced the Federal Aviation Administration has awarded another $80,497 to the airport’s improvement project. The new funding, Brown said, combined with an original $703,386 grant awarded earlier, should cover the project costs.
Details to close out the design phase of the project were handled in October, paving the way for the county’s budget to be reimbursed by FAA grant funds. The design work involved surveying the parallel and connecting taxiway and evaluating lighting at the general aviation airport.
The project is designed to upgrade the taxiway surface and change its design to meet current standards, as well as remove trees and other structures to extend the taxiway.
“A strong transportation infrastructure encourages economic development and helps Ohio’s communities thrive,” Brown said. “This funding will provide the aviation enthusiasts, small business owners and other residents of Ross County with a safe, modern facility that will serve them for years to come.”
