Sen. Brown Announces Moratorium On Postal Closures
WLWT – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown was joined by fellow Democrats Tuesday afternoon in making an announcement about the proposed closures of mail processing centers in Ohio.
Brown announced an agreement with the U.S. Postal Service that puts a moratorium on closures of post offices and processing centers until May 15. The move would allow Congress more time to enact reforms.
“Though the Postal Service faces serious challenges, this will provide time to reach a solution that will strengthen the USPS, instead of crippling it,” Brown said.
Cincinnati’s Dalton Street processing center is one of 10 Ohio facilities targeted for possible closure that would be under the moratorium. More than 400 jobs would be affected if it closes.
