Sen. Brown targets fraud against the elderly
WEWS – Senator Sherrod Brown takes steps to crack down on fraud aimed at senior citizens.
His office said senior citizens make up 30 percent of all fraud victims, even though they are only 15 percent of the population.
On Monday, Senator Brown unveiled the Senior Financial Empowerment Act, which cracks down on mail, telemarketing and Internet fraud. It also provides education so seniors don’t can learn how to protect themselves from scams.
