Sen. Sherrod Brown champions the nation’s senior citizens
Plain Dealer – Ohio’s Sen. Sherrod Brown proved once again that he is a champion for older Americans by organizing 50 senators’ opposition (“If the GOP insists on Medicare privatization . . .” cleveland.com, Thursday) to the U.S. House budget proposal to make Medicare a limited handout to our children and grandchildren.
I just became eligible for Medicare and am thankful to have continuing access to health care as I age because of the program. The House budget proposal does not address the issue of health care inflation or cost containment. Likewise, to impose mere spending caps on federal programs fails to work toward a health system that delivers better care at lower cost.
