Sen. Sherrod Brown to outline progress made in improving safety of Halloween toys sold in Ohio
NewsNet5 – In 2007, more than one in seven Halloween and holiday products purchased in Ohio, and tested by Ashland University Professor Jeff Weidenhamer, contained unacceptable levels of lead contamination.
On Monday, Dr. Weidenhamer will join U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) to release the results of products tested in 2011, showing major progress.
Weidenhamer tested 75 Halloween items this year, looking for things like lead. The progress to be revealed, according to a news release from Senator Brown’s office, follows major reforms in 2008, of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
