Sen. Brown Feels Speculation Is Causing High Gas Prices
NBC4i — When you fill up at the pump, do you ever wonder what causes the prices to go up from one day to the next?
Sen. Sherrod brown doesn't think so. At a Certified gas station on West Mount Street Thursday, he blamed oil speculators.
"They will bet on prices going up, encouraging other to bet on prices and they pocket a lot of money," Brown said.
Brown said oil speculation happens when prices are decided by investor activity, not by standard market forces.
