Sen. Sherrod Brown petitions governor for federal relief funds
Mansfield News Journal – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown sent a letter Wednesday to Gov. John Kasich offering to assist him in securing federal flood recovery resources.
Rain and melting snow led to severe flooding across Ohio, including Richland, Ashland and Morrow counties in north central Ohio.
For certain flood recovery resources to become available, the governor must file a request for a federal major disaster declaration to help flood-affected counties, Brown said. If areas of Ohio eventually are approved as federal disaster areas, affected counties would be eligible to receive increased federal funds for cleanup and recovery efforts, as well as funding to cover flood-related damages.
