Senate passes bill to buy only 100% U.S.-made flags
Columbus Dispatch – A bill introduced by Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, to ensure that flags bought by the federal government are made entirely in America, unanimously passed the Senate last week.
The federal government is currently required to purchase flags made with at least 50 percent American-made materials. Brown’s bill would require the government to buy flags entirely produced with American-made materials.
Companion legislation, introduced by U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley, an Iowa Democrat, passed the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010.
