Senator: We need nationwide ‘Blue Alert’ system
WCPO – Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown says it’s time to come up with a “Blue Alert” system to notify police officers about criminals who how have injured or killed law enforcement officers. The system, which is similar to the “Amber Alert” system, is already in use in 11 states around the country.
What that system would do is notify officers if someone injures or kills a law enforcement officer serving in the line of duty in another state and has yet to be arrested.
Brown says, “It needs to be done nationally so if somebody goes across state lines, it’ll still be part of the same network so that police officers can rally around and help their fallen comrades and get the perpetrator that killed them.”
