Senator Hopes to Extend Benefit Programs

WYTV – Two federal programs aimed at helping retired and displaced workers are set to expire in just over a month, but one local lawmaker wants them to be extended.

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) was at the Mahoning County One Stop in Boardman Friday morning to discuss the Health Coverage Tax Credit and Trade Adjustment Assistance. Those are two programs that provide benefits for thousands of Ohioans, including many laid off and retired Delphi employees.

The programs were extended at the end of last year for another six weeks, but Brown wants them to continue even longer.
