Sherrod Brown pushing unemployment relief
Chillicothe Gazette – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown is pushing for legislation to give states new tools to fight unemployment.
On Wednesday, Brown, D-Ohio, announced his intention to get the Layoff Prevention Act passed, which would give state governors the authority to allow companies to reduce skilled employee hours during production slowdowns by supplementing those hours with unemployment insurance, preventing the companies from formally laying off employees.
“Employers want to do right by their employees, and employers, I think, should have these resources,” Brown said.
