Sherrod Brown: State of Union will hone in on job creation
Mansfield News Journal – MANSFIELD — Job creation will be the focus of President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address tonight, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown predicted.
At a noon press conference, the Mansfield native said the president’s speech will lay out a national plan to support expansion and hiring by manufacturers and small businesses.
The speech also will focus on increased exports, technology and innovation, and federal deficit reduction, he said.
While too many Americans still remain jobless, Ohio has seen 12 straight months of job creation, Brown said.
“We’re being lead out of this recession by manufacturing,” he said. “I call CEOs regularly, and I hear increasingly that manufacturing is picking up in smaller companies, bigger companies.”
