Sherrod OpEd: Tax credit available for post-secondary education

Cincinnati Enquirer – A recent front page Enquirer story highlighted high tuition costs in the Greater Cincinnati area. In addition to the financial aid options mentioned in the article, Ohio families struggling to pay for college may also apply for tax relief this season.

Ohio college students and their families can save up to $2,500 this year by claiming the American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC). The AOTC, a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, is a tax credit available for the first four years of post-secondary education.
