Cleveland Plain Dealer — Earlier Thursday in Columbus, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown met with a half-dozen local workers at a downtown church to hear their concerns about the bill.
A retired cop told Brown some officers receive protective vests through labor negotiations. A high school teacher said she's able to keep a manageable class size thanks to her union.
"To me, collective bargaining is an American value," said Brown, who is up for re-election next year. "It's what brings fairness and justice to our society."
