U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown discusses collective bargaining changes with Ohio workers

Cleveland Plain Dealer — As a U.S. senator, Brown has no direct say in whether the plan will become law. It's up to state lawmakers and Gov. John Kasich, a Republican who supports the plan.

Nevertheless, Brown is urging his colleagues in the Senate to meet with constituent workers who would be affected by changes to state collective bargaining laws.

"Collective bargaining definitely makes things safer for policing," said Mike Taylor, a retired Columbus police officer. "It's not only good for us, it's good for the public."
