Westerville institute gets $1.29M to assist manufacturers
Business First – A Westerville-based nonprofit institute has landed a $1.29 million federal grant to link small and mid-sized manufacturers with new business opportunities.
The funding will allow the State Science and Technology Institute to provide customized assistance to Ohio manufacturers on business trends and issues and help grow manufacturing in the state, said a release from the office of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio.
“These funds will continue projects already under way to create new jobs and strengthen our manufacturing sector throughout the state,” Brown said in the release.
The State Science and Technology institute is a national association of state, regional and university-based economic groups that promote growth through the application of science, technology and innovation. Its funding comes from federal grants, membership dues and foundation support, said an institute spokesman.
