Widow of World War II veteran receives his medals 65 years later

Cuyahoga Falls News Press – Babette Robinson of Cuyahoga Falls says she’s proud of her late husband, Sgt. Harold “Robbie” Robinson, a U.S. Army rifleman in World War II who grew up in Stow and lived in Cuyahoga Falls after the war.

Mrs. Robinson was among nearly 30 veterans and family members who accepted overdue or replacement military medals from Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) during a ceremony May 7 at the Summit County Veterans Commission in Akron.

Mrs. Robinson said that aside from a few stories he told her, Harold never talked a lot about the war. And she didn’t have much personal knowledge of what was happening overseas at that time. “I was a teenager when the war was going on, and you just don’t understand when you’re a teenager,” she said with a laugh.
