A call to stop the carp
WTAM – Two Lake Erie experts are sounding the alarm about Asian Carp.
The species has been added to the federal injurious wildlife list, making it illegal to import or transport Asian Carp.
David Kelch of the Ohio Sea Grant at O-S-U is calling on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to speed up its study how the carp might be blocked from entering the Great Lakes, and for an electric barrier currently in place to keep the fish from leaving the Mississippi River to be strengthened.
