WWII vet in Ohio to receive 14 military medals

Enquirer – A former Ohio police officer who served in World War II is set to receive 14 military medals, including multiple honors with bronze stars.

The office of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown says Marvin Sizemore will be presented the medals Monday at Miami University in Oxford by a representative of Brown’s office and a Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps commanding officer.

Sizemore served aboard the USS Houston and was captured while receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Java. He was forced to work on the Burma-Thai Railway and spent more than three years in captivity.
