Brown takes student loan rate push to WSU
Chicago Tribune – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, visited Wright State University Friday to gain support for a bill he is co-sponsoring to stop the interest rate on some federal student loans from doubling this summer.
About 10,000 Wright State students and 382,000 students in Ohio are using federal subsidized Stafford Loans, a program used nationwide by 7.8 million low- and moderate-income students. The interest rate on new loans taken out after July 1 would be double the current rate of 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent.
