Brown To Feds: Retain Flight Service At Dayton International Airport

Aviation Pros — The office of Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, has issued the following news release:

Following news that Delta would limit service for Miami Valley business travelers after the U.S. Department of Transportation approved a waiver request made by U.S. Airways and Delta Airlines, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) urged the Administration to ensure that direct service is maintained from Dayton International Airport (DAY) to New York LaGuardia Airport. In a letter to U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Sec. Ray LaHood, Brown said that eliminating Dayton’s current direct flights to LaGuardia puts the Dayton business community at a disadvantage compared to cities that have direct access to New York’s business center.

“Limiting non-stop flights to LaGuardia will hurt Dayton’s economic competitiveness and hamper business growth,” Brown said. “The Department of Transportation approved this deal because of assurances that existing service would be enhanced, not eliminated. DOT must hold U.S. Airways and Delta to their word.”
