Toledo Blade — The long-awaited judicial confirmation hearing for U.S. District Judge nominee Jeffrey Helmick of Toledo is set to move ahead.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) announced Tuesday that the nomination of Mr. Helmick for an open judgeship in the Toledo court has been scheduled for consideration by the Senate Judiciary Committee at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
In a statement released Tuesday, Mr. Brown said “Jeffrey Helmick is an outstanding lawyer whose commitment to the law and to the Toledo community is second to none.
“He was given the highest marks of approval from a bipartisan judicial selection commission in Ohio, and has widespread support from the Toledo legal community. I look forward to introducing Mr. Helmick before the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday and will urge that his nomination move forward quickly,” Mr. Brown said.
