Morrow Co. detective is a finalist for All-Star Award

The Marion Sun – Morrow County Sheriff’s Detective Brandon Moore is one of six national finalists for the “America’s Most Wanted” 2012 All-Star Award, worth $10,000.

Moore was shot five times by a man with an assault rifle on Oct. 21, 2010.

In 2011, Moore was chosen from tens of thousands of nominees as the Charles “Bud” Meeks Deputy Sheriff of the Year from the National Sheriff’s Association.

In January, he became the first Ohioan to be awarded a Congressional Badge of Bravery.

“As Detective Moore has described it, the normal reaction of fear, shock, doubt and panic was overwhelmed by a calmness that only highly skilled police training could provide,” U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown said during ceremonies in Washington.

In caring for his shattered leg, then disabling Roush, “he saved himself, three civilians and other officers,” Brown said.

The six finalists for the 2012 AMW All-Star award were chosen from nominations originating from first-responder organizations around the U.S.
