Ohioan is nominated for federal schools job

Columbus Dispatch – The Obama administration has nominated former Ohio schools superintendent Deborah Delisle to serve as the Assistant Secretary of Education for Elementary and Secondary Education, Sen. Sherrod Brown said yesterday.

Delisle, who was named state superintendent under former Gov. Ted Strickland, resigned in March after it became clear that new members of the State Board of Education appointed by Gov. John Kasich would replace her. She had spent 2 1/2 years at the post.

Before that, she served as superintendent of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district. She has been an education consultant since her resignation went into effect on April 30.
