U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown this week highlighted the BUILD Act during a conference call with reporters, saying brownfields are a problem in Ohio and across the country.

“We need to act so that not one family, not one business, is forced to relocate because of hazardous materials on neighboring properties,” Brown said.

“They’re sort of everywhere around the country and these brownfields don’t belong in neighborhoods where children walk to school, they don’t belong in communities where businesses seek new customers, but some estimates tell us there are literally thousands of potential brownfield sites in our state.”
