News Brown visits Cincinnati to urge enrollment

Three days before open enrollment begins, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown Saturday joined Crossroads Health Center CEO Sally Stewart and a Warren County small-business owner Shawna Clements to alert residents in Southwest Ohio to new resources and local help available for signing up for the new health care marketplace.

“Ohioans will soon be able to choose from 46 affordable, high-quality health insurance options. Already millions of Ohioans are benefiting from the health law which ends lifetime caps on insurance coverage and prevents insurance companies from discriminating against individuals with pre-existing conditions by denying them coverage or charging exorbitant prices,” said Brown, D-Ohio, in a release issued after his visit to the Over-the-Rhine clinic.

Brown noted that premiums for the Ohio exchange will be nearly 16 percent lower in 2014 than previously expected and Ohioans will have 46 health plans to choose from, according to a recent report by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
